I divide people into the curious and the incurious. Most people are incurious and therefore uninteresting to me. I'm nice to them, but they're not interesting to talk to or hang out with for fun.
\nIt may occur to you to wonder why someone who claims to value curiosity so much can be so dismissive of so many other people's points of view, like conservatives and capitalists. The answer is: because I've always been curious, which means I've spent nearly fifty years learning about things, which is enough time to form opinions on things I've learned about. Capitalism is a dumb faith-based ideology with no grounding in reality and sociocultural conservativism serves no purpose but to entrench power in the hands of people who clearly don't deserve any.
\nBeing curious doesn't mean being naive or simple. Some people are boring. That's not an absolute judgment, just my judgment. Some ideas are stupid. Same thing, but the benefit of being curious and knowing things is being able to understand and explain *why* some ideas are stupid and some aren't, and that's a thing I'm good at.
